Flu Shots and Walk-In Immunizations in Fayetteville

Nurse giving a childhood immunization in a clinic setting

Fall in Northwest Arkansas is when flu season picks up, school sports start, and family calendars fill up. Medical Arts Pharmacy keeps immunization hours the same as regular pharmacy hours so you can walk in without booking a separate clinic visit. Vaccines we routinely stock include influenza, Tdap, zoster (shingles), hepatitis B, Menactra (meningococcal), and Prevnar (pneumococcal).

Walk in during regular pharmacy hours

Both the Fayetteville store at 2515 E. Huntsville Rd. and the Elkins store at 2127 N. Center St. Suite #1 keep Monday through Friday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with Saturday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday is closed. If you already plan to pick up a refill, ask the pharmacist about a flu shot at the same stop.

The original service page still lists vaccine information sheets for influenza, Tdap, shingles, hepatitis B, meningococcal, and pneumococcal disease. For other vaccines, the pharmacy points patients to immunize.org VIS pages.

Which shot should you ask about?

Influenza

A yearly flu shot remains the most common request from October through early winter. Pharmacists screen for egg allergy, prior reactions, and current illness before they vaccinate. Bring your insurance card. The pharmacy bills coverage where the plan allows it.

Tdap, shingles, and pneumonia

Adults who have not had a tetanus booster in ten years, adults 50 and older who need shingles protection, and older adults who need pneumococcal coverage can often complete those shots in the same visit. Tell the pharmacist about recent vaccines so they do not duplicate a dose you already received at a clinic.

Insurance billing for vaccines

Medical Arts Pharmacy accepts most insurance plans, Medicare Part D, and Medicaid. Vaccine coverage varies by plan and by product. If a shot is not covered, the pharmacist can quote a cash price before you proceed. That conversation is easier in person than it is after a surprise bill from a hospital outpatient department.

Read more about plan billing in Medicare Part D and pharmacy insurance billing, or start on the Services page if you want the full vaccine list.

What to bring

  1. Photo ID and your insurance or Medicare card.
  2. A list of vaccines you already received this year.
  3. Notes about allergies, pregnancy, or a fever in the last 24 hours.

If you feel unwell after a shot, call the Fayetteville pharmacy at (479) 443-3411. After hours, the same number reaches the on-call emergency line.
